Home in the heart of Memphis

United Housing is Binghampton Bound.

United Housing is a community resource; but lacks a genuine community footprint. Over the last 10 years, our current location in an office park in southeast Memphis has not allowed us to expand our services to meet community needs.

In May of 2022, local residents and the Assisi Foundation approached UHI with an opportunity to relocate to 2509 Harvard Avenue, the building that formerly housed Caritas Village.

UHI's Board of Directors approved the relocation, creating the opportunity to work from a more community-focused space. The mission and history of the building is not lost on us; we know we have a legacy to honor.

Make your mark on affordable housing in Memphis.

By investing in United Housing’s relocation to Binghampton, you’re investing in Memphis’ future homeowners. You’re helping to create a space where people can access housing resources they may not be able to access otherwise. And, you’re making the dream of stable housing a reality for your neighbors.

Our core values are reflected in Binghampton Bound.

  • Community: The community is a cross-section of ages; we envision expanded programming and cross-collaboration with other nonprofits to meet the community’s demographics.

  • Customers: We will position ourselves as changemakers for the community and serve as a bridge from poverty to financial stability through homeownership.

  • Partners: Our partners can utilize the no-cost Homebuyer Education Classroom community space for neighborhood meetings, co-working, events and workshops. We will increase the visibility of our partners – so there’s increased mission in action.

  • Programs: We will expand many UHI offerings to meet community needs for all adult residents: financial management classes for college students, financial literacy programming, tax preparation and ESL classes.

  • Resources: This new building will offer greater access to our services due to its central location in the city, close to other amenities and transit.

  • Employees: Our trusted staff will be inspired by entering a welcoming workplace environment. With increased community engagement and a central location, we know our staff will be reinvigorated in our mission.

“Homeownership has incredible benefits for a community. It provides a path to generational wealth, a feeling of security and financial freedom, and pride in one’s community. United Housing, Inc. has been helping Shelby County residents reach those milestones for nearly 30 years. I’m thrilled to learn about their plans to directly serve more residents at their new location in Binghampton by increasing their footprint to include more neighborhood-centric offices and community and counseling spaces. As job opportunities grow in Shelby County, UHI’s work will be even more of an asset for those choosing to call our community home.”

— LEE HARRIS, SHELBY COUNTY MAYOR
